How to Enable Adoptable Storage on ZenFone Marshmallow


What is Adoptable Storage? Android Version 6.0 (Marshmallow) introduces Adoptable Storage, which enables a user to set up the SD card as internal storage and store applications, their data, and media on an "adopted" SD card.

Android Version 6.0 no longer uses the Apps 2 SD feature which enabled the user to move applications to an SD card. The Adoptable Storage feature provides a much richer experience by Android.

How to Enable Adoptable Storage on ZenFone

  1. First download dan Install ADB&Fastboot (Download)
  2. Activate USB debugging at Settings>Developer Options (How to enable developer options is go to Settings>about>software information>Tap 7x build number)
  3. Connect ZenFone with Laptop/PC 
  4. Open folder at file explorer and press shift+right click > Open command here
  5. Command promt will be open, connection test by typing adb devices if serial number appear then go to next step.
  6. To activate adoptable storage at command prompt type adb shell sm set-force-adoptable true then click enter and wait.
  7. Click New SD Card detected on zenfone
  8. Choose format as internal storage
  9. Benchmarking your SDCard (Please Use fast sdcard)
  10. Then format as internal
  11. Done
Now you can move your previous apps to SDCard and your preferred storage for Apps and Games now is SDCard.
