WhatsApp updated its terms and privacy policy, the first in four years. The new privacy policy and T&C says that Whatsapp will share your users data, phone number and account information with Facebook to show you more relevant ads, offer better friend suggestions and show you more relevant ads. Here we provide you the way to Stop WhatsApp from sharing your data with Facebook.

Under the new changes, Facebook is able to see the phone number that people have associated with their WhatsApp account.

That allows the US social network to link and track profiles between the two services, helping Facebook gather more data for its advertisements.

WhatsApp claims the changes will make the experience better for its users.

However, WhatsApp is keen to reiterate that users' encrypted messages will remain private and the California-based firm won’t post, sell, share, or give your phone number to advertisers.

"By coordinating more with Facebook, we'll be able to do things like track basic metrics about how often people use our services and better fight spam on WhatsApp," the company explained on its blog.
